Teeth straightening with aligners - what should you know?

Your question is not here yet? Contact us!

SmileUniverse aligners are a convenient alternative to traditional braces. Our solution can effectively treat your malocclusion.

During your visit at your dentist, you will undergo a dental examination of your teeth in order to rule out any possible contraindications to treatment with aligners. Your dentist will then take an impression or 3D scan of your teeth, which will help us to create a model of your upper and lower jaw and a personalized treatment plan.

The dentist will inform you about the treatment duration and price. If you accept it, we will produce your orthodontic aligners in our laboratory in Poland, which will be clear, perfectly fitting your teeth and easy to put on. You will pick them up at our partner dental practice and your dentist will give you all the information on how to use them.

Treatment of malocclusion with SmileUniverse aligners is for adults over the age of 18. . We do not currently offer our services to children and adolescents.

It usually takes 4-12 months to treat a malocclusion with SmileUniverse aligners, but in some very complex cases it can be as long as 18 months. The exact duration of treatment depends primarily on the severity of the defect and on the patient's use of the aligners as recommended by us.

With SmileUniverse aligner treatment, you invest in yourself and in a beautiful smile. The price for straightening your teeth with SmileUniverse aligners depends on the complexity of your malocclusions and the length of the treatment itself. The cost of the treatment is determined by your dentist. Contact your doctor to ask for the treatment price. Your dentist may offer financing plans.

SmileUniverse orthodontic aligners are an effective way to get rid of problems with malocclusion. However, if the treatment is to be a complete success, it also requires full commitment on the part of the patient. So if you wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day, attend follow-up visits at our partner dental practices, and follow the recommendations of SmileUniverse specialists, the results will be truly rewarding.

SmileUniverse orthodontic aligners are made of a completely transparent, highly flexible, dimensionally stable thermoformable copolyester. This material is tested for biocompatibility and is physiologically safe. It is approved for medical purposes and contains no harmful substances. No allergic reactions to the material have been reported to date, but allergic reactions cannot be ruled out.

You will experience mild discomfort, pressure on your teeth or pain during the first few days of their use. However, it will pass quickly as you get used to wearing the aligners.

If such discomfort persists, you should contact your dentist.

The dentist determines the frequency of the visits based on your case. Usually visits take place around every 2 months.

If you have an X-ray of your teeth that was taken no more than 6 months ago, you can send it to us. Otherwise, our dentist will decide whether an X-ray is necessary.

An existing treatment with aligners can usually be continued during pregnancy. You should still consult your dentist in any case. During pregnancy, gingival hypersensitivity may develop, so we recommend postponing any treatment that has not yet started until after pregnancy.

We currently offer SmileUniverse aligners treatment only to patients over the age of 18 .

Treatment with orthodontic aligners is not recommended for patients with advanced bruxism, temporomandibular joint dysfunction or excessive crowding of teeth. Crowns, implants and bridges, as well as too many missing teeth in the arch and dental diseases such as decay, scale and periodontal diseases may also be an obstacle to treatment. Craniomandibular dysfunctions are also contraindications to wearing aligners.

Pregnancy or the use of certain medications can make the gums more prone to developing inflammation. In such cases, the dentist must decide whether the patient can be treated with aligners.

No. The orthodontic aligners must be removed before eating or drinking hot or coloured drinks. However, you can drink water with them on.

In order for the SmileUniverse aligners to be effective, they must be worn for at least 22 hours each day. You only remove the aligners to brush your teeth, and also to eat and drink (although you can drink water with the aligners on).

Patients put on and take off the SmileUniverse aligners themselves. It is quick and easy.

A retainer is a retention device which ensures that the effects of orthodontic treatment are maintained. It is an important part of the treatment also for patients using SmileUniverse aligners. The retainer keeps the teeth in the right place in the mouth after correction and prevents them from returning to their previous arrangement. This helps to obtain lasting results of orthodontic aligners treatment.
